Meet betta picta. It's a wild betta, meaning that instead of being captive bred for ages into the breeds you see in the petstore, it's much more closely related to its roots. This fish is actually one of 4 I have, all the captive bred first generation of wild caught betta picta.
These guys are mouthbrooders, which means that after spawning, the male holds the eggs in his mouth until they hatch.
And I've got a male holding right now. I'm so excited! I didn't know how old these guys were when I got them, but obviously they're old enough to breed! I've only had them 2 weeks and already, I have a spawn.
So that's been the extent of my photography. I've been getting alot of mileage from these macro filters! I can't even begin to express how much I love these things! More picta pics later!
