I guess since most of what I'm doing right now involves my photography, I'll just make this into a photography blog. That'll probably spur me on and motivate me to get more done, so I guess it works out.
Got my Canon 75-300 yesterday and holy shnikes I love it already. I can tell that some day in the future, I want a longer lens, but for now, this is going to be awesome. Gonna try some test shots this weekend, and then I'm trying to decide if I want to hit the rodeo in town this weekend for some cool pics. Need a flash before I can really do any damage though. It's at night and the last time I tried taking photos at the rodeo, they were crappy. Guess I gotta start looking for a good flash now... and (this is embarassing) learn how to use it. I've only shot with an attached flash once, and that was a disaster!
Still debating on sending it back in and trading for the Sigma. I want a lens hood, and the Sigma comes with that, plus it has a macro setting, and it's the same price as the canon. The hood for the canon is another $30 before shipping, and the canon doesn't have a macro feature. But I don't wanna let it go!! :'( Guess I'll call Monday and talk to them, then either buy the Sigma and have them send it while I return the Canon, that way, they should almost cross in the mail, and I'll only be out a few days. :D
I'm such a dork...

Is this the Sigma 70-300 with macro? If so, get it. I have that lens, and is awesome for macro work. The spiders on my blog(Almost In Focus) were done with this lens Keep shooting and keep writing!!!
Danny
Hey, Danny! :) Yes, the Sigma is the one with the macro. Of course, I saw that one after I ordered the Canon. Guess that's what I get for jumping the gun!
I ordered off www.Sigma4less.com. So far, I'm impressed with the site - good prices, fast shipping and their customer service has a very quick response. I'll be sending the Canon back on Monday. I want to toy around with it this weekend before I let go.
Have not tried sigma4less, will check them out. Let me know how you like the 70-300. mine is great, very light weight
