Long time, no post

Neglect in the world of blogs has been rampant for me, I'm afraid.

Sadly, the same can be said for the world of photography. I've had very little going on with my photography of late. I hope to change that soon!This morning, I purchased a new camera bag that has me very excited.



In the past, whenever I would go somewhere, I always had to leave my camera back tucked away somewhere because it was bulky and cumbersome. That meant I had to take my extra lenses, batteries and cards out and try to find a pocket to stuff them in so I would have them if I needed them. When I saw this backpack, I knew I had to have it. I've been eyeing it for a very long time, and finally this morning, allowed myself to splurge.

The reason I decided to splurge now is that in a few weeks, I'm going back to the Tennessee Aquarium for the first time in years! I am very excited about this trip, since I've always loved that aquarium. I've been to the Georgia Aquarium, but it just didn't interest me as much. Yes, even with whale sharks and belugas (and apparently they're adding dolphins too, which concerns me), the Georgia Aquarium just isn't as nice. Even as large as it is, I think they have too may large creatures in it, which means less room. I also especially like Tennessee because of the unique collection. I'm very excited to see the Nautilus, Cuttlefish and the Sea Dragons!

So, my bag should be here in a little less than a week, and then I'll be all set for my trip the following week. Hopefully pictures will be coming soon!!

Purchases make me happy

I bought an IR filter for my camera. Oh happy day! I cannot WAIT to get it and start playing around with pics. It'll be better when the trees leaf out again in spring but dang I am stoked!!

I moved this horse to my bedside table tonight because I keep wanting to paint him. This way maybe I'll actually work on him!!

Picture a Day - Day #1

Got a new android cell phone today. One of the apps I installed on it is called Retro Camera. Fun way to take pictures and add some interesting effects. Just snapped a quicky pic of Bowie. This should be a good way to start my (hopeful) new project, Picture a Day. I'm planning on doing this for one month, so we'll see how it goes!

Here's one pic I edited tonight. Took this in 2005 in Alaska, and never really paid it much attention. I kind of like the way the trees look here. It's not perfect, by any means, but it's cool.

Perceptions...

It's amazing how your perception changes.

Some pictures I overlooked previously as not being good, years later I look and like them.

I pulled several pictures out last night to edit for submission to my work's annual calendar contest. Tonight, I went to edit them, and most of them are not inspiring me. Frustrating, to say the least.

They're ok. But for some reason, the majority of the pictures I apparently like are portrait and the contest will only accept landscape, since that's obviously the best layout for a calendar.

Ugh, I'm getting beyond irritated. I kept thinking to myself that I had plenty of pictures worth submitting. Now, I don't want to even think about it. I've only got a few weeks left, and this is getting on my nerves. I need to get SOMETHING together. I do have a few pics I like but for some reason, looking at them tonight, I don't like them as much. Maybe after a good night's sleep things will look differently tomorrow.
